THE OBJECTIVE: Show the details, the essence, and the function of an object through a series of three photos
THE IDEA: The bottle gives a sense of elegance by the soft contours and the cold coloring of the bust. Because this is an unnatural shape for a perfume bottle, it was important to include the perfume atomizer to meet the functional part of the objective. It was also important to highlight the label, as this was promoting a specific product for a brand.
TEST PHOTOS: By using harsh light, the contours and the metallic finish on the perfume bottle stand out. This makes going into the studio easier when having prepared angles and knowing what light is needed to best show off the object.
RAW PHOTOS: The soft light of the sweep allowed for light to reach the more detailed parts of the bottle- brightening the face and reflecting the logo- unlike the test photos showed. The side lighting was able to be manipulated in order to show the shine of the gold color. This warm, softer lighting brought out the rich coloring and high-end look that the bottle emulates.
FINAL PRINTS AND EDITING: The final detail of this project included the photos being in black and white, therefore, the photos were slightly cropped and converted to greyscale. This allowed for the essence of the object shine through without the help of color. It was important to keep a sense of cleanliness and elegance in the bottles demeanor in order to achieve this projects objective.
